Talk Maths Day
In this workshop, we'll explore how struggling to talk and understand words can affect maths learning, and how you can use strategies and approaches to support children with these needs.

In this workshop we’ll explore how speech, language and communication needs can affect maths learning. We’ll share the specific approaches and strategies we use in school to support your child and help them to develop their mathematical understanding. You’ll also discover simple, effective ways to support your child’s maths learning at home, helping to reinforce what they’re learning in the classroom and build their confidence with numbers.
The day will include:
- a tour of Meath School including brief visits to classes during their maths sessions
- professional discussion with speech and language therapists and specialist teachers on topics including:
– specialist approaches to support the teaching of maths for children with SLCN
– developing mathematic vocabulary
– maths oracy.
