Simplifying and Extending Language

Staff continuously simplify language to supports children’s access to learning, whilst extending target areas of language to develop acquisition of language and communication skills.

SSE

Sign Supported English is one of the key tools staff and children use within their

Active Learning

Children learn best when actively engaged and enjoying their learning. Adaptations are
made to support individuals’ styles of learning where appropriate. Resources are
personalised to support each child’s needs.

Overlearning

Opportunities for overlearning by recapping, consolidating, and reviewing what has been learnt in a lesson. Experiences are often repeated and slightly developed aiming to build transferrable skills within new but similar situations. Retention of knowledge is embedded when sharing learning with peers.
