Learning to read is a central part of our children’s earliest years at school. As educators, you know just how important those reading skills are – for children’s wider learning, wellbeing, and futures. Today, reading typically starts with phonics. But often, children haven’t been given the foundational skills they need to access phonics as they begin to learn to read and write. That affects not only their own learning, but the wider classroom’s, too.
