Life in Residential

How do we cater to medical needs?

All residential staff are trained in the safe administration of medication. In addition to general medical provision, there is always a qualified paediatric first aider on duty. The residential centre has access to the well-equipped school dispensary, which has a rigorous system for storing and dispensing medication. We will discuss your child’s specific medical needs at induction and take appropriate measures.

How do you ensure safeguarding of children in residential care?

The Residential Centre has rigorous safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff receive regular training to ensure our practices are of the highest standard. We have a designated safeguarding officer for residential services in place.

What clubs and activities can my child join in with?

We provide an exciting after-school curriculum which encourages pupils’ progress via a range of out-of-classroom activities. For more information, visit our after-school clubs page.

What personal items can my child bring?

In addition to appropriate sleepwear and hygiene items, your child is very much encouraged to bring personal items to help them settle in. Each child is allocated specific storage space, however we ask you to label all items.

Can I call my child while they are in residential care?

Yes, we actively encourage and support children to call/webcam with family at home. However, we do not allow personal electronic devices such as mobile phones. The best approach for each family is discussed at their induction meeting.
